How it Works

Step 1

Skimmer (mechanical filter): The skimmer is essential in keeping the pond surface clean. It draws in floating debris such as leaves, dust, and petals, collecting them before they can settle. Housed within it are the pump and a skimmer basket that provide the first stage of water filtration.

Step 2

BioFalls® (biological filter): After passing through the skimmer, the water flows into the BioFalls® system, typically hidden within a waterfall feature. Here, layers of filter media and colonies of beneficial bacteria break down organic matter and control nutrient levels, keeping the pond’s water clear and healthy.
