How it Works

Step 1

Skimmer (mechanical filter): The skimmer is placed at the edge of the pond and serves as the first step in water filtration. It draws in floating materials such as leaves, pollen, and other debris. Inside the skimmer, a pump and basket collect these materials before they can settle at the bottom. This helps maintain a clean surface and reduces strain on the rest of the system.

Step 2

BioFalls® (biological filter): Tucked inside the waterfall area, the BioFalls unit is the second part of the filtration process. After water passes through the skimmer, it flows through this filter, which uses beneficial bacteria to break down nutrients and organic matter. This natural method keeps the water clear and safe for fish, plants, and other pond life.

Our Filtration Expertise

At California Waterscapes, we use the most reliable and natural filtration methods available. Over the years, we have worked with a wide range of systems, including external filters, pressure systems, and more. We trust the biological filtration system from Aquascape Inc. because it consistently delivers excellent results.

Our two stage system begins with mechanical filtration, which removes larger debris from the water. After that, the water is purified further through biological filtration. This second step relies on nature’s own process to keep water clean and healthy. With this approach, we can build ponds that remain clear, attractive, and easy to care for.
