How it Works

Step 1

Skimmer (mechanical filter): The skimmer is the first defense against debris buildup. Tucked at the edge of your pond, it contains a pump and basket to draw in leaves, twigs, and surface waste before it sinks. This keeps your pond clean and protects the health of the entire system.

Step 2

BioFalls® (biological filter): Once filtered by the skimmer, water flows to the BioFalls® unit, hidden within your waterfall feature. This filter uses naturally occurring beneficial bacteria to break down organic waste, keeping your pond water clear and the ecosystem balanced.

At California Waterscapes, we’ve fine-tuned our filtration process through years of experience. After testing various systems, we confidently rely on the biological filtration products from Aquascape Inc. Their durability and performance make them ideal for the Central Coast climate in Guadalupe.

The filtration process starts with the mechanical skimmer that removes larger debris. Water then enters the biological system, where helpful bacteria neutralize pollutants and improve water clarity. This two-step process ensures a clean, low-maintenance pond environment year-round.
