How it Works

Step 1

Skimmer (mechanical filter): The skimmer is placed at the edge of the pond where it pulls in water from the surface. As it runs, it collects floating debris such as leaves, petals, and dust. This prevents buildup and keeps the water clean before it enters the next stage. Inside, the pump and filter basket make sure large materials are removed efficiently.

Step 2

BioFalls® (biological filter): Once water moves through the skimmer, it enters the BioFalls unit, which is often hidden inside the waterfall. This filter holds media that support the growth of beneficial bacteria. These bacteria naturally remove nutrients and organic matter from the water, keeping the pond in balance without chemicals.

Our Filtration Expertise

California Waterscapes has tested many types of pond filtration including external, pressure based, and internal systems. After years of hands on experience, we trust the biological filtration system by Aquascape Inc as the most dependable and effective method available.

Our process begins with a mechanical filter that removes larger debris. Then the water is cleaned further as it moves through a biological filter, where friendly bacteria break down any remaining material. This two part system supports healthy water conditions for fish, plants, and other pond life.
