How it Works

Step 1

Skimmer (mechanical filter): The skimmer is installed at the edge of the pond and serves as the first line of defense against debris. It continuously pulls in water from the surface, catching leaves, twigs, and floating material before it can settle. Inside, a basket and pump work together to keep the water cleaner as it moves to the next stage.

Step 2

BioFalls® (biological filter): Hidden within the waterfall area, the BioFalls unit contains special media that provide a home for natural bacteria. These bacteria help remove excess nutrients and organic waste from the water. This natural purification process keeps the pond clear and helps maintain a healthy environment for fish and plants without the use of chemicals.

Our Filtration Expertise

California Waterscapes uses a trusted two step process to ensure pond water remains healthy. We have worked with many filtration systems over the years and found the most effective solution to be the biological filtration method developed by Aquascape Inc.

The process starts with the mechanical filter that catches larger pieces of debris. Water then flows into the biological filter, where beneficial bacteria break down smaller particles and unwanted nutrients. This combination supports clean, clear water and reduces the need for manual maintenance.
