How it Works

Step 1

Skimmer (mechanical filter): The skimmer is placed along the edge of your pond and draws in surface water to remove floating debris like leaves, twigs, and dirt. A built in basket and pump collect these materials before they can settle, keeping the pond clearer and preparing the water for the next filtration step.

Step 2

BioFalls® (biological filter): After passing through the skimmer, the water moves into the BioFalls unit, typically placed at the top of a waterfall. This filter uses natural bacteria that attach to the media inside. These bacteria help break down organic waste and excess nutrients, keeping the water clean and balanced without the need for chemical treatments.

Our Filtration Expertise

At California Waterscapes, we have tested nearly every pond filtration method available. From internal and external filters to pressurized systems, our experience has led us to trust the biological filtration system from Aquascape Inc as the most effective solution for clean, healthy water.

We use a two part filtration approach. First, the mechanical filter captures large debris from the water. Then, the biological filter handles the smaller contaminants by relying on bacteria that naturally clean the water.
