Swimming Ponds and Natural Pools in San Clemente

We build Recreational Ponds used for swimming

What is a Swim Pond?

California Waterscapes creates beautiful swimming ponds and natural pools in San Clemente that bring a resort feel to your own backyard. These recreation ponds offer the charm of a natural lagoon with the function of a swimming pool, without the need for harsh chemicals. Designed to suit your space and lifestyle, each pond is custom built with aesthetics and comfort in mind.

Optional Upgrades For Swim Ponds

Customize your swim pond with upgrades such as:

  • UV filtration for extra water clarity
  • Added depth to improve swim zones
  • Natural stone steps or beach entry for convenience
  • Flagstone floor for a smooth, clean bottom
  • External pump systems for improved performance

How Are Swim Ponds Filtered?

We use a two part, nature inspired filtration system.

The mechanical skimmer removes floating leaves, dirt, and surface debris.

The biological filter uses helpful bacteria to break down waste in the water. For larger designs, a wetland filter may also be installed. This setup uses aquatic plants and gravel to naturally cleanse the water.

How much do Swim Ponds Cost?

In San Clemente, swimming ponds and natural pools typically range from $50,000 to $200,000. Large scale projects with additional features or extensive filtration systems can go above $250,000 depending on design and site conditions.

Are Swim Ponds More Affordable Than Concrete Pools?

Yes. Swim ponds generally cost less per square foot than concrete pools and offer lower long term maintenance. They rely on a natural system, not chemicals, which keeps water clean while reducing operating costs over time.

How We Design and Build Ponds

We design each pond to fit naturally into your landscape. In San Clemente, we focus on blending the pond with the surrounding coastal or hillside environment. Using curved lines, natural rock, and greenery, we create features that feel like they’ve always been part of the space.

    Included with every build:

    • PondGuard Aquascape rubber liner for long term durability
    • Stone borders and integrated planting for a natural look
    • Gravel or flagstone bottom based on your preference
    • Fully built in and hidden filtration systems

Do I need fish in my Swim Pond?

Fish are optional, but they help maintain the balance of the pond. Even a few mosquito fish improve filtration and reduce algae. For those who enjoy a lively ecosystem, a variety of fish and other aquatic life can be added.
